The low orange moon makes the Ohio River shine

like a black jewel

among the hushed sheds

of Catlettsburg, Kentucky. We are radiant and massive.

A tree frog sings of hunger.

Dark tongue of wet tires.

Frogs breathe through their skin,

you wetly breathe on mine. Moon is round and cool

on my tongue, a pearl.
